The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a key academic and research division, focusing on the chemical aspects of drug design, development, synthesis, and analysis. It combines principles of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry to understand how chemical compounds interact with biological systems and how they can be modified to enhance their therapeutic effectiveness.

This department plays a crucial role in training pharmacy students to understand the structural and chemical properties of drugs, their mechanisms of action, metabolism, and structure–activity relationships (SAR).
